Physicians working as inpatient psychiatrists receive a 10% premium pay over the base pay listed. In addition, psychiatrists also receive an additional 5% increase in salary for each qualifying board certification, up to two (2) Boards.

Night-shift differential: All psychiatrists receive a 12% shift differential, regardless of their base wage, for any work between the hours of 5pm and 8am.

San Mateo Medical Center's Department of Psychiatry is looking for full-time Psychiatrists to join our core medical staff.

Staff psychiatrists may work in any of the following services with specific duties depending on current need:

• In Psychiatric Emergency (PES), collaborate with nursing staff and the medical emergency department.
• Evaluate & treat patients presenting with emergency and urgent psychiatric and/or behavioral problems; medical problems; and, substance abuse.
• Admit patients to the acute psychiatric unit.
• On the locked acute psychiatric inpatient unit, direct care of 6-9 patients per day; supervision of a resident team covering up to 6 patients.
• Manage patients medications; provide & oversee psychotherapy & behavioral management programs.
• Evaluate capacity, apply and lift legal holds, testify at legal hearings, and make conservatorship referrals.
• On duty on the the medical-surgical & long-term care units 4-6 hours per day, in a consultation-liaison role, and/or at a long-term subacute psychiatric facility.
• Collaborate with attending physicians & other staff.
• Provide ongoing care for approximately 30 non-acute patients at the long-term subacute psychiatric hospital.

Qualifications:

• Board Certification or completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program.
• License to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of California.
