As a part of the OptumCare network, Optum Unity Health Network is seeking an Infectious Disease APC to join our team at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in hospital-based setting. Our Infectious Disease are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of AIDS, HIV, hepatitis, meningitis, pneumonia, sexually transmitted diseases, and other conditions. Combining expertise and quality care allows us to provide patient-centered services that improve patients’ lives. Our physicians are highly trained specialists, having spent three years completing Internal Medicine Residency Training and two years training in Infectious Disease Medicine. At Optum, we are transforming healthcare nationally while providing physician-led care locally.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for Infectious Disease related health problems
  • Compliance with all coding and documentation requirements
  • Practice evidence-based medicine
  • Hospital Based with two ½ day per week outpatient clinics
  • Rounding at 1 to 3 different hospitals
  • Practices in accordance with the respective state laws and regulations governing the practice of advanced practice nursing
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with members and their legal representatives, facility staff, PCPs, and other collaborating physicians/providers
  • Completes follow-up and post-hospital assessments according to documented standard operating procedure
  • Provides counsel, support, and education to facility staff
  • Participates in management meetings that include, but may not be limited to:
  • Weekly case conference reviews
  • Monthly staff meetings
  • Quarterly Quality Improvement Committee meetings
  • Continuing education/journal club programs
  • Requires participation in clinical on-call program as plan expands
  • Keeps current on relevant medical and nursing research, technology, and related issues by attending continuing education courses, professional meetings, and journal reviews
  • Perform related duties as necessary and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Unrestricted licensure in the state of Ohio, or able to obtain
  • Active and unrestricted DEA License, or ability to obtain
  • Advance Practitioner Nurse Certification
  • 2+ years of clinical Nursing experience preferred and others
  • On Call Participation
  • Rounding at hospital required (3 within a 20 MI radius)
  • Maintenance of privileges with no restrictions at hospital where procedures will be performed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of APN Nursing Experience with strong preference with direct Infectious Disease related experience
