A hospital in Texas is seeking a Gastroenterology Physician to provide quality patient care for a Government locums assignment.

Assignment

  • Dates: as soon as credentialing complete - 1 year (minimum 6 month commitment)
  • credentialing is approximately 6-8 weeks after award
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
  • Setting: Mix of Inpatient and Outpatient
  • Call: Call is approximately every 5th week, Tuesday through Monday (Physicians are rarely called, 1-2 times per week on average, called back in maybe 1-2 times every couple of weeks)
  • Volume: Approximately 10 patients per day in clinic Approx. 6-12 endoscopies per day
  • Patient Ages: Adults
  • Procedures: Most common procedures are colonoscopy with intervention (polypectomy is the most common intervention) diagnostic, therapeutic EGDs; must be capable of performing variceal band ligation, PEG, Polypectomy of large polyps in a piecemeal fashion with use of
  • Cases: Nasogastric tube insertion
  • Reinsertion of gastric tube
  • Anoscopy/proctoscopy
  • Paracentesis
  • Endoscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Variceal band ligation
  • Foreign body removal
  • Percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy placement
  • Esophageal food impactions therapy
  • Esophago gastroduodenoscopy
  • Support Staff: Yes - 3 Additional Gastroenterologists, 3 NP's
  • EMR/Charting: EMR - CPRS

Requirements

  • Boards: Board Certified
  • Certifications: ACLS; BLS; DEA
  • Additional Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required; medical work experience in the United States in the specialty you are applying for, in the past 12 months, completion of U.S. residency training; any active unrestricted state license
  • Additional qualifications for government jobs: Board Certified in Gastro
