    General Description

    Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps Clinic, seeks an experienced transplant surgeon who would serve as Program Director of the Scripps Center for Organ Transplant (SCOT). The director will be responsible for the Scripps Center for Organ Transplant in adult abdominal transplantation (deceased and living donor). He/She will also lead the research, will support the training of residents rotating on the service. He/She will interact closely and collaborate effectively with members of the transplant division (providers and administrative staff). The individual will also be charged with leading the institution’s efforts to make the SCOT gain national and international prominence. He/She will be charged to enhance the program results and add additional transplant services. Preferably, experience in UNOS committees.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Director overseeing the medical directors of the kidney, pancreas and liver transplant programs. Oversee the development of new programs such as living liver transplantation or robotic kidney transplantation. Making sure the program meets SRTR and UNOS requirements and expectations. Working closely with the division head of organ transplant and the administrative director of the transplant program both reporting up to Scripps Green hospital leadership, Scripps Clinic Medical Group department chair and to Scripps Health leaders.

    Skills/ Experience

    The ideal candidate will be an active transplant surgeon, Board certified in General Surgery or Urology (meeting UNOS requirements), with expertise organ procurement and in living and diseased liver, kidney, pancreas and/or intestine being desirable. Additional transplant surgery training with American Society of Transplant Surgeons Fellowship certification or its equivalent is also required. The individual should have a sufficient experience to be a program director and have regional and national reputation to attract referrals for transplantation from within as well as outside the local area. Familiarity with and ability to introduce techniques and technology not currently utilized at Scripps is desirable.

    Compensation Details

    $568-650k
