Job Responsibilities:

As a Pediatric Physician at Oak Orchard Health, you will be part of a dynamic care team and provide a full scope of primary care services. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Clinical Leadership: Lead the care team in medical decision-making and provide supervision and collaboration to Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs).
  • Patient Care:
    • Perform Health History and Physical Examinations (HPI).
    • Diagnose and counsel patients on treatment plans.
    • Prescribe medications in accordance with New York State regulations.
    • Perform minor surgical procedures as necessary.
    • Generate referrals for patients requiring services outside of primary care.
    • Review patient data (labs, reports, diagnostic imaging, etc.) and manage follow-up care.
    • Complete accurate and timely chart documentation.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
    • Participate in quality assurance projects and peer reviews.
    • Assist in the development and update of medical protocols.
    • Participate in outreach programs and off-site healthcare initiatives.
  • Professional Development:
    • Maintain Board Certification in Family/Peds Medicine or become Board Certified within 18 months of hire.
    • Stay updated on evidence-based primary care through Continuing Medical Education (CME).

Requirements:

  • Education & Licensing:
    • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
    • Current New York State medical license.
    • DEA certificate required for prescribing medications.
  • Certification:
    • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family/Peds Medicine.
    • CPR Certification required.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in family medicine or primary care or Pediatric settings is preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
