Locum Inpatient Psychiatry Opening in Johnstown, pa

Start Date: ASAP - December (Credentialing completed in 14 days)

Position Overview: We are urgently seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist to provide locum tenens coverage for maternity leave. The role involves inpatient care and call coverage in a 29-bed psychiatric unit. The ideal candidate will have completed a Psychiatry residency, with a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Inpatient Care: Manage 10-12 patients per shift in the acute psychiatric unit.

• Call Coverage:

  • Weekday on-call by phone from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
  • Weekend call requires rounding on psychiatric units and handling new consultations in the ED and med/surg.
  • Expect 2-4 admissions and various calls for behavioral issues, PRN medications, and non-routine incidents.
• Ratio of Follow-ups to New Evaluations: 10:4
• Midlevel Support: Assistance with new evaluations and summaries.

Hospital Information:

• Inpatient Unit: 29 beds
• Call Schedule: 1-2 days per week, occasionally 3 days. Possible weekend call.
• Response Time: 30 minutes

• Preferred Clinical Skills: Anxiety, affective disorders, ADD/ADHD, personality disorders, eating disorders, developmental disorders, psychotic disorders, organic disorders, involuntary commitments, seclusion therapy, restraint application, pharmacotherapy, group therapy, family therapy, ECT.
