Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) — either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) — to join the Safe Child & Adolescent Network (SCAN) at Seattle Children’s. The APP will play a key role in evaluating and managing cases of suspected child abuse and neglect in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This position requires excellent clinical judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and physical examinations for children and adolescents who may be victims of abuse or neglect
- Obtain detailed medical and social histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment and follow-up plans
- Provide expert consultation to Child Protective Services (CPS), healthcare providers, and law enforcement regarding suspected abuse or neglect cases
- Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations, case reviews, and team meetings to ensure coordinated, child-centered care
- Accurately document clinical findings and maintain thorough medical records in compliance with hospital and legal standards
- Engage in quality improvement activities and contribute to educational initiatives related to child protection and advocacy
- Collaborate closely with physicians, social workers, and community partners to ensure the safety and well-being of patients
- Provide training and mentorship to clinical learners or new staff as appropriate
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner focus) or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current and unrestricted Washington State RN & ARNP license (for NPs) or Washington State PA license (for PAs)
- National certification as a Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner (for NPs) or NCCPA certification (for PAs)
- Active DEA registration and current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (PALS may substitute for BLS in pediatric settings)
- Minimum of one year of pediatric or family practice experience; two years of APP experience preferred
- Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills; ability to manage sensitive and emotionally challenging cases
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Part-time position with flexibility to cover daytime, weekend, or holiday shifts as needed
- Practice spans multiple care settings, including outpatient clinics, emergency departments, and inpatient consultations
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment involving medical, social work, and legal professionals
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities and maintain composure in emotionally intense situations

$3,664-4,478/month
