Great Opportunity Peds Intensivist in Tucson, AZ

The Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Arizona in Tucson seeks a full-time board eligible/board certified Pediatric Intensivist to join our current team of 7 Physicians in staffing a 24-bed multidisciplinary PICU. The incumbent will participate with the other members in several activities including resident and medical student education, clinical research, quality improvement and other academic endeavors. Our group provides critical care services at Diamond Children's Medical Center with a 24/7 coverage model, built on a team-based and collaborative approach. The department seeks individuals who can work with diverse students, trainees, and colleagues, and has experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. Our team works closely with all of the other Pediatric Subspecialties and multiple surgical services - such as Congenital Heart Surgery, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Neurology, Hematology/Oncology, Neurosurgery and Trauma.

Job Details:
- 1.0 FTE
- Average daily census is 12-14 patients with 24 beds in a closed ICU
- 12-hour in-house shifts- days and nights are shared (flexibility in how shifts are negotiated and scheduled)
- Average of 12 to 13 shifts per month
- Current staff consists of 7 Physicians
- Quaternary Care PICU with Post-Op Cardiac, Level 1 Trauma (Level 2 Pediatrics), General PICU, CRRT, ECMO, Neurosurgical care, and advanced ventilation modes cared for in our 24-bed PICU
- Participate in multi-site clinical trials
- Excess shift compensation available
- Works with 3-4 Pediatrics, EM Peds, or EM residents per block
- Works with 2-3 medical students per month
- Flexibility in practice with additional research and teaching opportunities
Minimum Qualifications:
- BC/BE in Pediatric Critical Care
- Experienced providers and new grads welcome to apply
- Experience or training in ECMO, Cardiac, and Trauma
- Strong clinical skills and reputation for strong interprofessional communication
- Ability to work within a diverse environment including students, residents, and with other faculty
- Should have an interest in teaching multi-disciplinary trainees, as well as interest in quality improvement and other academic endeavors tailored to the candidate's current career path
