Summary

  • I am a Board certified Ophthalmologist specialized in Cornea and Anterior segment disorders. I did my medical school from Trivandrum Medical college, India, followed by an Ophthalmology residency at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi and a Cornea Fellowship at the LV Prasad Eye Institute, before moving to United States. In the United States, I did further training including a second residency in Ophthalmology from George Washington University and subsequently a fellowships in Cornea and external diseases at the Wills Eye Institute, Philadelphia.

    I have been involved in the teaching and mentoring medical students & residents for the past 10- years. Currently I serve as the Program Director of the Ophthalmology residency program at the Westchester Medical Center/ New York Medical College. I also serve as a member of the panel of examiners and examination content developer with American Board of Ophthalmology.

    I did a research fellowship in clinical immunology at the National Institutes of Health with the late Dr. Robert Nussenblatt and have co-authored/ authored many peer-reviewed publications, covering many important topics in ocular inflammation, ocular surface disease and wound healing, autoimmune eye disease, corneal degeneration and dystrophies and genetic profiling of ocular disease. At NYMC, I am a co-principal investigator in a large multicenter clinical study related to a type of herpetic eye disease and is supervising several resident research projects.
