- Dr. Allen Kaufman has been practicing Nephrology since 1980. He is the Chief Medical Officer and Senior VP for Clinical & Scientific Affairs at Dialyze Direct. He served as the Chief of the Division of Nephrology & Hypertension at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York from 1998-2004, the Chief of the Renal Research Institute’s and Beth Israel’s Yorkville Dialysis Unit from 1990-2000 and the Chief of Dialysis at the Bronx VA Medical Center from 1982-1990. Dr. Kaufman has been the Principal or Co-Investigator on numerous research grants that have included NIH funded studies, has published more than 100 manuscripts, articles, book chapters and abstracts and has lectured widely, both regionally and nationally. Dr. Kaufman has served on dialysis-related advisory and editorial boards and received numerous awards including local, regional and national “best doctor” citations and “patients’ choice” awards. Dr. Kaufman's educational and professional training occurred at the University of Rochester (Undergraduate and Medical School), the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s Philadelphia General Hospital (Medical Internship) and the Mount Sinai Hospital and School of Medicine in New York (Medical Residency and Nephrology Fellowship). Dr. Kaufman is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and is Board Certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine.
