Overview of Dr. Thomaides

Dr. Athanasios Thomaides is a cardiologist in Washington, DC and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including MedStar Washington Hospital Center, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, and Virginia Hospital Center. He received his medical degree from University of Texas Medical School and has been in practice 12 years. He also speaks multiple languages, including Greek. He specializes in cardiac electrophysiology and is experienced in management of atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia and other arrhythmias by medical therapy or catheter ablation. He is an expert at implantation of permanent pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators including CRT systems and leadless pacemakers. He is also one of few electrophysiologists in the region who specialize in laser lead extraction, a procedure that involves removing old pacemaker or defibrillator leads using laser technology.
