Summary
- Brian James Daley, MD, MBA, FACS, FCCP, CNSP
joined the faculty at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville in August of 1996 and now holds the position of Professor of Surgery. Dr. Daley completed General Surgical Training at Bassett Hospital, a Columbia University affiliate, and did research in biomechanics at the University of Iowa. Dr. Daley has completed fellowships in Traumatology and Surgical Critical Care (UMDNJ) and Nutrition (Harvard). He serves as Trauma Director, Chief of the Division of Trauma and Critical Care and Program Director of the UTMCK Surgical Residency and Critical Care Fellowship, as well as Director of the Metabolic Support Service.
Born in Washington, DC and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Daley attended Tulane University for his undergraduate and medical degrees. Dr. Daley has also attained his Masters Degree in Business Administration at the University of Tennessee. He is certified by The American Board of Surgery, with additional recognition as Added Qualifications in Critical Care and is boarded as a Certified Nutrition Support Physician by the American Board of Nutrition Support. He holds Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons and the College of Chest Physicians in addition to memberships and leadership positions in other national and regional surgical societies such as EAST and the ACS.
Dr. Daley has published several book chapters and written numerous articles in the fields of Trauma, General Surgery and Nutrition. Basic science research interests include the modulation of the inflammatory response by nutritional precursors and novel technologies to predict infection.
