  • Bruce David, DO, is a forensic psychiatrist based in New York City. He graduated in 1988 from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a rotating internship at Southeastern Medical Center. He then received his J.D. from New York Law School in 1992. He completed his residency in psychiatry from 1992 to 1995 at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai/Morningside/West. Dr. David completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry in 1996 at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has held key leadership positions, including serving as Clinical Director at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center and as Assistant Commissioner of Health in New York City. He was the founding director of the Osteopathic Psychiatric Residency Program at Nassau University Medical Center. He was the psychiatrist for the first Mental Health Court in New York and the first Assisted Outpatient Treatment Program in New Jersey. He served on the faculty at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine, and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, in addition to New York Law School. He was appointed to the New York City Department of Health Institutional Review Board, New York State Office of Mental Hygiene Forensic Institutional Review Board, and to the Medical Board of the New York State Commission on Corrections. He currently works for the NYS Office of Mental Hygiene, consults to the New York City Police Department, and conducts private forensic evaluations.
