Summary

  • I completed my medical doctorate at the Medical University of South Carolina with a sponsorship from the Health Professions Scholarship Program. I subsequently completed a Transitional Internship at the Navy Medical Center in San Diego, CA, where I was awarded Transitional Intern of the Year by faculty and colleagues. After my internship year, I transitioned to the operational sector, completing a six month course in aviation medicine/basic pilot training, receiving the coveted designation of Naval Flight Surgeon. During my time at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute (NAMI), I was awarded the "Fox Flag Award" for highest academic average. I am now one of the flight surgeons assigned to MAG-31 2D MAW stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, SC. My current aspirations are to return to the civilian sector to complete a residency in Diagnostic Radiology, with further plans to sub-specialize in either Neuroradiology or Body Imaging. I have a particular passion for education and would eventually like to serve as a faculty member at a large academic medical institution.

Research History

  • Research Assistant (University of South Carolina, Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry)I worked in a laboratory setting, synthesizing various permutations of semiconductor nanocrystals to be made “biocompatible” through ligand exchanges, with an ultimate goal of incorporating a novel multi-dentate hydrophilic surface molecule to be used in tissue imaging and intraoperative sensing.2013 - 2015
  • Student Researcher (University of South Carolina, Dept. of Sociology)I researched and compiled information pertaining to a large number of psychopharmaceuticals, focusing on adverse effects, contraindications, and suicide risk. I then assisted in organizing this data into figures to be used for publication.2012 - 2012
