Summary

  • Dr. Frank Politzer joined Berks Cardiologists, Ltd. in 1988. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Politzer was raised in Forest Hills, Queens, NY, and earned his undergraduate degree in physics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA. He received his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. His postgraduate training included Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Bellevue Hospital and New York University Medical Center, New York, NY where he also completed his Fellowship in Clinical Cardiology. He later completed an additional Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla, NY.

Two factors brought me to the practice of cardiology: a love of science and physics, and my own father’s untimely death of a heart attack at a time when current techniques of cardiac catheterization and coronary artery angioplasty and stenting were not yet available. To honor his memory, I devote my professional career to helping those with heart disease—to diagnosing and treating their coronary artery blockages aggressively and hopefully, to help my patients prevent heart attacks and death. I love the diversity of the practice of cardiology, including taking care of patients in both hospital and office settings, the many imaging techniques that allow us to completely evaluate a patient’s heart problem and the catheter-based interventions that allow us to actually fix patient’s coronary arteries with a simple needle puncture, as if by stealth, without the need for cutting a patient’s chest open.

All of us need to heed the words of the late Mickey Mantle: ‘If I knew I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself.’ Fortunately, even when you haven’t quite taken care of your heart the way you should have, we cardiologists can help you get on track to a heart-healthy lifestyle, open up your blocked arteries when needed.
