Summary

  • Dr. Rosson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, with a secondary appointment in Oncology, at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of lastic Surgery and serves as the Director of Breast Reconstruction Surgery and the Microsurgery / Breast Reconstruction Fellowship Director at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. His practice includes a large number of breast reconstruction patients and he specializes in complex implant-based breast reconstructions, fat grafting, and microvascular perforator flap breast reconstructions, such as the DIEP, SGAP and TUG flaps. Dr. Rosson works closely with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Breast Center and is a member of the Johns Hopkins Breast Center executive committee. He also co-chairs the Breast Center’s Loco-Regional research work group, comprised of surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and plastic surgeons.

In addition to running a busy operative practice, Dr. Rosson conducts research on breast reconstruction, peri-operative quality of life / patient-reported outcomes, and patient safety. He was one of the early breast surgeons to map the abdominal perforators with CT angiography, and to incorporate the BREAST-Q into clinical practice. He has two ongoing patient repositories for which he is actively collecting data on breast reconstruction patients, and he is currently leading a prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled trial studying the effects of pre-operative paravertebral blocks on post-mastectomy reconstruction pain and quality of life. His clinical research team includes undergraduates, medical students, residents, and post-doctoral research fellows whose work results in numerous abstract presentations and publications annually.
