Summary

  • I am a IM physician passionate about expanding health care services to underserved communities and improving the efficacy and accuracy of patient outcomes. My licenses in NY, FL, and PR together with multiple certifications and Academic Excellence and Leadership Awards demonstrate my commitment to continuous professional development. I believe the best patient care services come from staying abreast on emerging practices and methodologies.

COVID-19 challenged and tested all of us medical professionals, but I am most proud of how these unprecedented times have brought us together to deliver quality patient care to everyone. During the pandemic, I have been afforded the opportunity to collaborate with some of the greatest medical professionals. Not only did we manage dozens of routine patients, but we also oversaw care for COVID-19 infected patients.

It’s no secret that PR has been continuously ravaged by hurricanes. When Hurricane Maria hit us, I was a second-year resident on rotation at University District Hospital and was tasked with providing emergency medical care to patients as the hurricane passed. Despite being ravaged by the storm, our hospital was able to provide inpatient care for the next 72 hours without interruption. To this day, I am inspired by the resilience, leadership and determination showed by our team during this adverse moment. Our team once again proved to be compassionate and dedicated medical professionals in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria as we were short of supplies. Considering this, a colleague arranged for the arrival and distribution of medical supplies, and I and two other physicians volunteered to distribute them to the main hospitals of the western part of PR.

On a final note, I utilize my expertise to expand medical services throughout unrepresented communities. As a physician who is fluent in Spanish and English, I strive to ensure non-English speaking Americans receive critical health care services by serving as a translator.
