Summary
- I am a board certified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of liver and biliary tract malignancies and liver mass lesions. I completed my Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training at Mayo Clinic, where I serve as Associate Director of the Predoctoral Masters Degree Program in Clinical and Translational Sciences. My research interests are in hepatobiliary malignancies, spanning the spectrum from basic research into the signaling pathways regulating the growth, progression and metastases of liver and biliary cancers, translational studies of new biomarkers and diagnostic tests for early diagnosis, and epidemiological studies of the risk factors and determinants of development of liver and biliary cancers. I am also actively involved in educational and health policy initiatives to improve the prevention, access to care, and treatment of liver cancer patients in the United States, particularly including immigrant African and Asian communities, as well as in sub-Saharan Africa.
