Previously he was Chief of Gastroenterology/Hepatology and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Loma Linda University Health in California. He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville and fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Dr Volk specializes in improving medical decision-making and healthcare delivery for patients with chronic liver disease. As a researcher, he has published more than 150 papers and received multiple research grants, and as a clinician, he was frequently voted one of the Best Doctors in Hepatology.
