Summary

  • When I came to Valley Cardiac Surgery after completing an extensive training in heart surgery at UCLA in cardiothoracic surgery (adult and pediatric transplant, robotics, minimally invasive, mechanical device, and all traditional heart procedures), I had fallen in love with California and was given the opportunity to come to Fresno and actually do heart surgery.
    I quickly went from graduate Fellow, to partner and then became the managing partner as our practice grew. During this time, I played a pivotal role in creating all new programs in the Central Valley (TAVR, lung nodule, off-pump CABG, high risk cardiac surgery, minimally invasive CABG, mechanical circulatory support program (LVAD, ECMO)) and continue to develop, evolve, and innovate better techniques in minimally invasive heart surgery.
    32 BILLION- The cost of heart failure in the US alone.
    We can curb that cost and benefit the patient by faster recovery. Recovery, and risk are often decreased if we can do these complex heart surgeries in a minimally invasive way. Innovation and experience are key to better results for our patients. Returning to living a normal life faster also helps combat depression, and financial hardship that can result from being out of work for a long time. With our commitment to the community, we believe understanding all aspects that have an impact on our patients related to their heart condition.
    We currently do 19 different minimally invasive heart surgeries at VCS. While some believe that complex heart surgery cannot be done minimally invasively, we humbly disagree.
    We founded AIMHS-American Institute of Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery. Our intention with AIMHS is to educate heart surgeons globally on how to perform heart surgery minimally invasively because the benefits to the patients, their family and society are enormous, and heart surgery has evolved.
