  • Raúl Poulsen, MD is a licensed child and adolescent psychiatrist who proudly serves the community and aspires to provide dedicated mental health care to San Francisco Bay Area. He is a graduate from the University of Florida with a degree in psychology, and received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Medicine. Dr. Poulsen was trained in adult psychiatry at Rutgers - Robert Wood Johnson, NJ and completed his training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital, FL.

    ​He has experience working with patients of all ages and backgrounds who suffer from depression, anxiety, trauma, and a number of co-morbid psychiatric and medical conditions. He aims to learn from each patient, take the time to understand each person's dreams, aspirations and struggles while providing compassionate care. He believes in helping individuals increase their self-understanding and improve their quality of life by providing a therapeutic environment of empathy, genuineness, and acceptance. He offers a supportive therapeutic approach that includes recognized psychotherapies, tailored treatment modalities for each individual and evidence-based psychopharmacology that compliment and address each person’s path, life meaning, and goals. He works to create a safe and confidential space for patients to feel comfortable processing the challenges that are affecting them whether it be difficulty coping with change, grief, anxiety, insomnia, depression, trauma, pain, chronic medical illnesses and other health related issues.
