    Raymond Sinatra, Ph,D, MD


    Raymond S. Sinatra currently serves as Emeritus Professor of Anesthesiology at Yale Medical School, New Haven CT, and Attending Pain Specialist at the West Haven-VA Medical Center. Dr Sinatra received his Ph.D (Neuroscience) and Medical Degree at the SUNY Downstate School of Medicine in 1982. He completed his Anesthesiology residency at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and then joined the staff at the Yale University School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology where in 1985 he organized one of the first Acute Pain Management services in the United States. Over the last 25 years he has directed the in-hospital Pain Service, and the Analgesic Research Unit. He also served as director of the Yale University Pain Medicine Fellowship.

    Dr. Sinatra has served as senior editor of several textbooks “Acute pain: Mechanisms and Management” (1993), “Acute Pain Management” (2008), and “The Essence of Analgesia and Analgesics” (2010). He has also authored over 120 scientific papers, review articles, and textbook chapters on pain management and intra-operative Anesthesiology. He has served as principal investigator for over a dozen original and industry sponsored clinical protocols evaluating novel analgesics and analgesic delivery systems. These analgesics include ketorolac, rofecoxib, transdermal fentanyl, iontophoretic administered fentanyl, intravenous oxymorphone and hydromorphone as well as other agents commonly employed in Pain Medicine. Dr Sinatra has presented abstracts, papers and lectures at both the National and International pain management and Anesthesiology meetings.
