Summary

  • I am a board certified mid-career pediatrician with broad practice experience. I have had the opportunity to live and practice around the country, moving frequently as the spouse of a military member. In each place, whether for training or in practice, I have developed a deep understanding of what binds the medical community together and also how we are each unique. My background in public health and primary care has given me an eye for the big picture when it comes to health in our country. Where are the disparities and why? At the same time I have delved into the true nitty-gritty of real people, both doctors and patients (and those who do not even engage in the health system). What is causing the disconnect between the medical experts and the layperson? I also have experience in research, data analysis, and evaluation of the literature, with a masters in public health and years of experience personally culling the literature to translate it into best practices for me and recommendations for my patients. I have experience with writing and consider communication one of my greatest strengths. As a pediatrician, I feel my effectiveness stems primarily from my ability to listen, to form a relationship, and to develop true trust.
