He completed his undergraduate degree at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA. Following that he completed medical school at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. He completed internship, residency, and a chief residency in Internal Medicine at the LSU Health Sciences Center in Baton Rouge, LA. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. Next he completed an advanced fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center and ultimately completed his training with a fellowship in Advanced Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart Disease. Dr. Shane Prejean will begin practice in August of 2021 in southern Louisiana at the Cardiovascular Institute of the South affiliation with Terrebonne General Medical Center with a clinical focus on general cardiology, interventional cardiology, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and transcatheter valve therapies. Dr. Shane Prejean performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including heart catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, coronary stent implantation, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), Transcatheter mitral valve replacement, Mitra Clip procedure, PFO closure, ASD closure, paravalvular leak closure, and transcatheter therapies for pulmonary embolism.
