Professor of Anesthesiology, Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics, University of Utah School of Medicine
I am a board certified neurologist with added qualifications in Pain Medicine and in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. I trained in medicine and neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, completed pain fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, then practiced for 8 years at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston before coming to the University of Utah in 1998.
I take care of children and adults in Salt Lake City. I am currently Senior Consultant to the Supportive Oncology and Survivorship Program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute; Chief of Holistic Medicine at the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System; and a pain medicine and palliative care consultant at Primary Children's Medical Center. I serve on the Pain and Palliative Care Guidelines Panels of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and a Faculty Scholar of the Open Society Institute's Project on Death in America. I have held a license in massage therapy for over 35 years and continue studies in complementary/alternative medicine.
My research has focused on neuropathic pain, opioids and novel nonopioid analgesics.
I have a background in the performing arts. I enjoy spending time with my family, especially in the outdoors, dancing and making music.
