Overview of  Dr. Irwin

Dr. Timothy J. Irwin is a Harvard-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon specializing in routine and complex conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity. Board-certified in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, he treats a broad spectrum of conditions, with particular interests in nerve and brachial plexus disorders, congenital upper extremity differences, arthroscopy, spasticity management, and microsurgical reconstruction. He is the only dual fellowship-trained pediatric hand and upper extremity surgeon in Florida and serves as Medical Director of Pediatric Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery at AdventHealth for Children.

Dr. Irwin’s practice is centered on delivering individualized, function-focused care for patients of all ages with both routine and highly complex upper extremity problems. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Irwin is actively engaged in research, innovation, and surgical education. He has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented nationally and internationally on wrist arthroscopy, brachial plexus injury, peripheral nerve surgery, and reconstructive microsurgery. His ongoing work focuses on advancing care and improving functional recovery for patients with complex upper extremity conditions.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Grove City College and his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University - College of Medicine. He completed his Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery residency through the Harvard Medical School Combined Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center/Thomas Jefferson University and a dedicated pediatric hand and upper extremity fellowship at Shriners Hospital for Children–Philadelphia.
