  • Timothy G. Murray, MD, MBA is currently the Founding Director/CEO of Ocular Oncology and Retina of Miami Florida. Dr. Murray’s early academic career was focused on the development of an integrated Ocular Oncology service at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. In 2012, Dr. Murray founded the Ocular Oncology and Retina Center in Miami, Florida. Dr. Murray continues as Tenured, Professor Emeritus in Ophthalmology and Radiation Oncology with the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Murray’s focus on founding the private Ocular Oncology and Retina Center was related to his ongoing pursuit of excellence in clinical care particularly targeted on advanced imaging and treatment technologies. Dr. Murray’s Ocular Oncology and Retina Center continues to provide International, National and Regional care for patients with life- and sight-threatening complex eye disease.
    Dr. Murray’s primary focus is in ocular oncology and retinal disease. Dr. Murray has been involved in the evaluation of novel treatment approaches for ocular melanoma, retinoblastoma, vascular tumors and has utilized basic and translational laboratory studies to enhance our understanding of the molecular and pathogenetic mechanisms for tumor development. Dr. Murray’s interest in new evaluation and treatment technologies has been pivotal in the marked advancements in melanoma and retinoblastoma management in the United States and internationally.
    Dr. Murray is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the combined BA/MD program in 1985, completed his Residency and Chief Residency at the University of California, San Francisco in Ophthalmology and completed both a surgical and research Fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and ocular oncology at the Eye Institute, Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Murray expanded his health care focus when he graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 2005.
    Dr. Murray has published over 300 peer reviewed articles.
