Indiana University School of Medicine, a national leader in clinical care, education, and research, is announcing the search for Chair of the Department of Medicine. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the Department, including but not limited to the implementation of a highly successful academic, clinical, and research enterprise.

The Department of Medicine’s mission is to advance research and patient outcomes while training the next generation of leaders in internal medicine. The department participates in the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) – a partnership between Moi University, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, and the AMPATH Consortium of North American universities led by Indiana University. From the department’s extensive selection of educational opportunities within its 10 subspecialty divisions, all learners — from the first year of medical school through post-graduate fellowship training — receive exceptional training from dedicated faculty in all areas of clinical internal medicine and research.

This position is ideal for a transformational leader who can build on existing strengths and work collaboratively with the leadership of the School of Medicine and the academic health center including IU Health, Eskenazi Health, and The Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Doctorate or Terminal degree is required. Minimum qualifications include an MD or MD/PhD, board certification in Internal Medicine, academic credentials appropriate for appointment to the rank of full professor with tenure, and eligibility for licensure in Indiana. The individual selected for this position must be a highly accomplished researcher and principled leader with exceptional communication, interpersonal and change management skills, and a strong commitment to upholding our core values including promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
