As a member of the Department of Surgery and Division of Trauma Acute Care Surgery (TACS) will provide clinical care to patients with trauma, critical care and emergency and elective surgical conditions. Participate in education for the Inova Department of Surgery for residents and medical students. Participate in research projects for the Division of Trauma Acute Care Surgery and the Inova Department of Surgery. The TAC surgeon will provide care to patients in the Emergency Department, Operating Room, Intensive Care Units, Wards and all other necessary hospital locations. The TACS will work closely and professionally with consultants, nursing, respiratory therapists, pharmacy and all others involved in care of the trauma/critical care and surgical patients. The TACS will strive to provide care that is evidence-based, expeditious, cost-effective, compassionate and consistent with the standards of modern surgical practice as promulgated by the American College of Surgeons and other national organizations.
Completed 4 years of medical school and an ACGME approved general surgery residency and be board certified or eligible in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Additionally, the surgeon will have completed fellowship training in critical care at an ACGME/RRC approved program and be board certified or eligible in Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery. Equivalent qualifications may be acceptable at the discretion of the Chief, Division of Acute Care Surgery.
