Job Duties:
The Department of Radiology offers a unique opportunity for a Nuclear Medicine Physician to support the Department of Radiology to contribute to our growing Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section. This faculty member will pursue an academic career in Molecular Imaging and Radiotheranostics with opportunities for leadership roles in our radiology department within the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. Additional opportunities also may arise for clinical work in subspecialty radiology section (Cardiovascular, Chest, Abdominal and etc.) and are available for candidates eligible, for American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification in diagnostic radiology (DR).
The University of Wisconsin Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging provides image interpretation of a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures including positron emission tomography (PET) examinations. The section is composed of experts in multiple areas including general nuclear medicine and PET imaging, nuclear cardiology, PET/ MR, prostate cancer imaging and therapy, and the imaging and treatment of patients with thyroid cancer. Therapies in patents with various forms of cancer are routinely performed with unsealed sources, such as radioactive iodine in patient with thyroid disease and 177-Lu DOTATATE for patients with neuroendocrine tumors. The section is part of an expanding theranostics program using both clinically approved and investigational agents. This is a growing are with state-of-the-art imaging equipment including PET/CT, PET/MR and SPECT/ CT.
The UW Department of Radiology consists of more than 120 faculty across 12 specialty section, reading over 60,000 diagnostic scans per year. We train more than 50 residents and fellows per year and have an extensive presence throughout the medical student curriculum. The Department of Radiology benefits from strong collaborations with the Department of Medical Physics, and together the two share over 70,000 square ft. of facilities within the Wisconsin Institutes of Medical Research, including over $30 million of state-of-the-art equipment in PET, CT, MR, angiography, ultrasound and PACS. The Department is also home to several services dedicated to supporting our researchers, including the cutting-edge Radiopharmaceutical Production Facility (RPF) and the Medical Imaging Research Services core, which provides extensive regulatory, grant administration, technical consultation, and image analysis services.
Required Qualifications:
- WI medical license is required by start date of position.
- American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM) or American Board of Radiology (ABR) Board certified or board eligible (Dual Pathway or Nuclear Medicine Fellowship trained) is required by start date of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fellowship training in Molecular Imaging is preferred.
- All Faculty: The chosen candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
- CHS Faculty: The chosen applicant will participate in administrative, and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
Education:
MD, DO, or equivalent is required by start date of position.
