SSM Health Dean Medical Group is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Physician Assistant to join our Elective General Surgery Department. This service is heavily grounded in routine general surgery with opportunities to explore in subspecialties such as Endocrine, Colorectal, Advanced Laparoscopic, Breast, Bariatrics, and Hepatobiliary.

As the ideal candidate, you would have surgical experience or a strong attraction to the operating room. You will be extremely skilled in performing invasive procedures. Must be able to function in a high-stress environment and thrive within a team approach model. Must actively pursue opportunities to improve the quality of care provided to the General Surgery patients across the continuum of care.

Requirements

  • Prefer post-education experience practicing as a physician assistant in a surgical specialty.
  • New graduates welcome to apply who have had elective surgical or surgical rotations as we have a robust training and on-boarding program.
  • First-assist OR experience.
  • Wisconsin certified physician assistant.
  • BLS required and ACLS certification highly encouraged.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • Become a key member of a multidisciplinary group consisting of 10 APs and 8 MDs.
  • Work week is considered five (5), 8-hour days.
  • Physician Assistants will work with surgeons across a wide array of subspecialties.
  • The position includes operative first assisting, inpatient/floor and outpatient/clinic responsibilities.
  • AP call (24-hour call) is shared equally 1:10 weekdays and 1:10 weekends as well as rotating holidays.
  • No trauma call is required.
  • Hospital Privileges at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, an ACS Level II Trauma Center, 440-bed tertiary care facility and Ambulatory Surgery Center.
