Pediatric Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiologist University of Virginia | Charlottesville, VA

The University of Virginia (UVA) Children’s Hospital seeks a full-time Pediatric Cardiologist with advanced training in Heart Failure, Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support to join the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (open track).

Candidates must hold an MD or DO, be board certified in Pediatric Cardiology, and have completed advanced fellowship training in pediatric heart failure/transplant and mechanical circulatory support. The successful candidate must meet criteria to be recognized as a transplant physician by UNOS. Training at an institution with a high-performing congenital heart surgery and transplant program is strongly preferred.

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology includes 13 faculty members with expertise across the full spectrum of pediatric cardiology, including heart failure/transplant, pulmonary hypertension, interventional cardiology, imaging, adult congenital heart disease, and electrophysiology. The incoming physician will join three existing heart failure/transplant faculty and share inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities, including participation in dedicated heart failure, transplant, and cardiomyopathy clinics.

The program is supported by two dedicated pediatric heart transplant nurse practitioners and two congenital heart surgeons who perform procedures across the lifespan with some of the best risk-adjusted outcomes in the country. The surgical program performs approximately 10 pediatric heart transplants annually, in addition to managing patients requiring mechanical circulatory support.

UVA serves as the lead institution in the Virginia Congenital Cardiac Consortium, a three-institution collaboration that directs the most complex congenital cardiac patients to UVA Children’s Hospital. The UVA Children’s Heart Program has been ranked among the Top 50 nationally by U.S. News & World Report for eight consecutive years.
