Midcareer Faculty Trauma Surgeon with Research Leadership Focus: Division of Trauma | Banner and University of Arizona (Phoenix)
The Division of Trauma Surgery at Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix is actively seeking a Trauma Surgeon/Clinical Researcher. This position offers the opportunity to work clinically, engage in innovative research, and contribute to the academic community by making a significant impact in the field of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care.
The Division is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Trauma Surgeon with expertise in leading, developing and conducting research, with special interest in the trauma program, surgical critical care fellowship, and research development The ideal candidate will be a enthusiastic and collaborative team player with high emotional intelligence, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to supporting or medical group and residency program and work well within a multidisciplinary team environment.
The candidate will provide care for patients that have a traumatic injury or acute care surgical issue, manage critically ill patients, and help support outpatient and elective surgical care.
The selected individual will hold a faculty appointment (from the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix) that is consistent with their credentials and will instruct fellows, residents, and medical students.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Fellowship training in Acute Care/Trauma Surgery
- Board Certified in surgery & surgical critical care
- 5+ years' experience post fellowship

Experience in robotic surgery preferred but not required
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Arizona
- Current prescribing privileges including a DEA license for controlled substance.
- Established expertise in collaborating with diverse patient populations
- Evidence of clinical, scholarly, and teaching ability
- Qualified candidates should have a history of clinical research/scientist experience, publications, and be an active member of professional societies (within the last 3 years)
- Academic experience and teaching or clinical excellence awards is a plus
- ATLS Instructor qualifications and teaching background required
- Looking for individuals with special interest in research development and leadership
Additional Desired Skill Qualifications:
- Chest wall stabilization (Rib plating)
- Robotic certification
- Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) or Thoracotomy
- Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube placement
- Abdominal wall reconstruction (TAR, TAPP, TEPP, retrorectus repair, abdominal wall mesh repair)
- Skin grafting
- Tracheostomy (bedside-percutaneous or in the operating room-open)
- Cricothyroidotomy
Practice Details:
- Team covers Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, Trauma Surgery, ICU (TSICU), outpatient trauma clinic, program is growing the elective surgery volume.
- High volume practice
- Participate in Emergency, Trauma surgery and ICU call (180 shifts annually)
- ACS & State Level certified.
- Donor Care Center - unique to our institution
- Affiliated with UA; research institution (UA COM-P Research Institution)
- Adult only
- Currently a division of 12 Faculty Physicians and 10 APPs
