Job Highlights
University of Rochester Medicine seeks an accomplished academic physician to serve as Division Chief of Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to lead a nationally recognized program and drive continued growth across clinical care, research, and education for the first academic institution to achieve Advanced Certification in Palliative Care from the Joint Commission (2011).
About the Role
The Division Chief will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all palliative care services across URochester Medicine. This includes Strong Memorial Hospital, F.F. Thompson Hospital, Golisano Children’s Hospital, and collaboration with Highland Hospital. The Chief will play a central role in expanding programs, recruiting and mentoring faculty and advanced practice providers, and strengthening interdisciplinary research and education initiatives.
This leader will actively participate in patient care while advancing the division’s mission across:
- Clinical excellence: Expanding high-quality, equitable palliative care services
- Education: Overseeing fellowship, residency, and student training programs
- Research: Partnering with the Palliative Care Research Center and multidisciplinary teams across specialties
Qualifications
- MD or equivalent
- Must obtain NYS Medical licensure before start
- Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry
- Board Certified in Palliative Care
