Lead Primary Care Physician – Federal Detention Health Services (Jena, LA)

We are seeking a Primary Care Physician to provide direct patient care and clinical leadership at a federal detention facility in Jena, Louisiana. This role supports individuals in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and ensures high-quality, compliant healthcare delivery.

Position Highlights

• Provide full-scope primary care for adults, women, and children.
• Serve as the on-site medical authority for all clinical operations.
• Oversee APPs, nursing staff, pharmacists, and medical assistants.
• Conduct physicals, acute/chronic assessments, and daily medical rounds.
• Review and sign encounters, labs, referrals, and consults per policy.
• Respond to medical emergencies and support performance improvement efforts.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and HIPAA compliance.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. from an accredited program (LCME/COCA/ECFMG).
• Active, unrestricted Louisiana medical license and unrestricted DEA.
• Completed residency in FM, IM, EM, or Pediatrics (board-cert preferred).
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• Detention/correctional healthcare experience preferred, not required.
