Locum Hospitalist - SW Alaska - Short assignment July

We are looking for a Hospitalist Physician to take on a short-term assignment in rural Southwest Alaska. This assignment offers competitive compensation and the chance to serve a region with critical healthcare needs. Location: Southwest Alaska Job Type: Locum Tenens Date Range: July 14th - 18th, 2025 Compensation: $220 Hourly Rate

Schedule: 7:00am to 7:00pm

Responsibilities:

• Patient Volume: Averages 5 new admissions per day
• Staffing Mix: Full hospital support team
• No Call
• Provides triage phone support for the villages

Position Requirements: 

• An active AK Physician License & DEA are not required to start this position. However, the provider must intend to obtain shortly.
• Active BLS & ACLS
• ATLS & PALS preferred, but not required; CALS accepted
• Minimum 2 years of solo full-spectrum emergency experience
• Direct experience with medivac and patient care stabilization including intubations, chest tubes, and complicated airways; must have strong suturing skills
• Alaska bush experience highly preferred
• Must be culturally sensitive and willing to embrace the native community and their culture.
