How you'll make an impact in this role

Ascension Via Christi is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Medicine and walk-in clinic team in Wamego, Kansas.

Position Highlights:

  • Provide care in both the Emergency Department and Walk-in Clinic, offering a broad scope of acute and urgent care experience.
  • Practice in a community-focused hospital that delivers comprehensive care close to home for the surrounding rural region.
  • Join a collaborative emergency team delivering care for a wide range of acute conditions, injuries, and stabilization for transfer when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician.
  • Obtain patient history and performs assessment. Order, perform and interpret diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide and document direct treatment and management of health conditions.
  • Provide counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
  • Perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.

What minimum requirements you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Physician Assistant credentialed from the Kansas Board of Healing Arts obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience preferred.
