Job Duties:

The Division of Rehabilitation Medicine within the Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physician to join our faculty. The Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UW-Madison is comprised of 12 faculty, 5 advanced practice providers, 10 residents and 2 fellows within the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, which includes 61 faculty and 50 advanced practice provider in 8 subspecialty divisions/sections, 8 fellows across 5 fellowship programs and 40 residents between 2 residency programs. The division enjoys strong collaborative relationships with faculty in the Department of Pediatrics Division of Developmental Pediatrics & Rehabilitation Medicine.

The Division is rapidly growing and thus has a wide range of clinical care practice needs which can be tailored to the specific training and niche practice interests of individual candidates. Opportunities include, but are not limited to, inpatient rehabilitation (at joint venture UW Health/Lifepoint Rehabilitation Hospital), outpatient rehabilitation at UW Health clinical care locations with a focus on general rehabilitation medicine, musculoskeletal-focused physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation (which could include focused practice in stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, spasticity management and prosthetics management). Incorporating various procedural care (through clinic-based or ambulatory procedure center settings) include electromyography/nerve conduction studies, trigger point injections, botox injections, ultrasound-guided injections, joint injections and spinal injections. Additionally, participation in the division’s rotational call coverage of inpatient care the UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital will be expected.

We are seeking candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through either practice experience or training. An appointment to either the Clinician Teacher (CT) or Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track will include teaching of various trainees, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates exists.

Required Qualifications:

  • WI Medical license by start date of position.
  • Board-certified or board eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by start date of position.
  • Completion of a US ACGME-accredited Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency by the start date of the position.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an academic medical setting
  • Interest in peer reviewed publications and scholarly research activity highly desired

Education:

MD or DO, or equivalent required
