About the Medical Director Position

The Department of Pediatrics at the Dell Medical School (DMS) at The University of Texas at Austin, along with its clinical partner Dell Children’s Medical Center, a part of the Ascension Seton Healthcare Family, is seeking a Program Director of Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. In partnership with Division Chief, the BMT-Director will develop and foster a vision for the newly created Cellular Therapy program with a strong focus on achieving FACT Accreditation, providing clinical care, education as well as building statewide and national relationships for Dell Children’s Medical Center. This is a full time employed position at Assistant/Associate Professor rank, with protected time for clinical care, administration, and education.

About the Division of Hematology Oncology

The Hematology Oncology division has a strong record of long-standing participation in clinical trials, cooperative groups, and consortia. The Program Director will work collaboratively with Division Chief and 12 Pediatric Hematologists-Oncologists and 20 advanced practitioners (APN/PA). The division is on a strong growth trajectory with a well-thought strategic business plan focused on excellence in clinical care, differentiated program development and professional growth. We manage 120-125 new oncology diagnoses/year and at present, average 12-15/year patients are referred to other institutions for cellular therapies. The Heme-Oncology unit is 22 beds (4 are BMT-dedicated), with strong nursing support. Heme-Oncology clinic is a 40,000 sq ft dedicated pavilion with 25 chair infusion centers. The BMT program has strong institutional commitment with dedicated resources, team, and personnel support. The program director will work with 2 BMT-focused oncologists, 2 APNs, BMT-Quality manager, and program coordinator with committed resources for additional staff recruitment. 

Qualifications:

  1. Board certification in Pediatric Hematology / Oncology
  2. Training and experience in blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapy
  3. Demonstrated excellence in patient care
  4. Licensed or ability to acquire medical license and DEA in state of Texas
