Job Highlights
The Division of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Medicine at the UC Irvine School of Medicine is seeking a Division Chief of Infectious Diseases for a faculty appointment in the Health Sciences Clinical at the Professor level (or Associate Professor with leadership experience).
This is a leadership role with a balanced portfolio across clinical care, research, teaching, and administrative oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for the Division of Infectious Diseases, including oversight of faculty, clinical programs, and academic initiatives
- Lead and grow divisional clinical services, including hospital-based infectious disease care and infection prevention programs
- Oversee and support the Orange County TB Program
- Advance the division’s academic mission through research development, faculty mentorship, and scholarly activity
- Supervise and mentor a team of approximately 16 faculty members
- Collaborate with departmental and health system leadership to expand clinical and research programs
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Dedicated administrative and leadership time
- Clinical responsibilities include approximately 2–3 outpatient clinic sessions per week and ~10 inpatient weeks per year
- Additional time may be required for leadership meetings, research activities, and conferences
Qualifications:
- MD, DO, MBBS or MD/PhD degree or equivalent
- Board Certification in Infectious Diseases.
- Be eligible for, or currently hold, a medical license in the state of California.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a section chief, division chief, or in another relevant leadership role.
- Meet requirements for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
Benefits include:
- $365,000 - $400,000 compensation package based on qualifications, training, and experience

$365K–$400K
