The Lead Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for Education plays a key leadership role within the Department of Critical Care, collaborating closely with the Department Chair, APP Director, and Chief APP. This position is responsible for oversight of the Critical Care APP fellowship program, onboarding education for new hires, and ongoing education needs of the APP staff. The Education Lead APP works collaboratively within the APP leadership team to support team development, clinical operations, process improvement and educational initiatives which enhance clinical excellence, safety, and staff engagement.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain clinical responsibilities as a staff APP in the Critical Care Department.

  • Maintain and enhance a robust, clinically relevant orientation program. Monitor onboarding progress and support new staff through mentorship and educational support.
  • Oversee the Critical Care APP Fellowship Program. Coordinate didactic and clinical curriculum for newly graduated APPs in a year-long training program.
  • Deliver ongoing education through lectures, simulation events, mentoring, and individualized training to support clinical growth and the integration of new procedures, services, or technologies.
  • Coordinate APP student clinical placements. Provide support and coaching for APP preceptors and mentors.
  • Represent the APP team on departmental and hospital-based quality committees and initiatives.

Work Schedule

  • A hybrid schedule that includes clinical and administrative responsibilities
  • Includes two administrative shifts per month
  • Designed to ensure continuity and responsiveness to both operational and patient care needs

The hiring range for this position is between $140,000 to $180,000.

Compensation Details

$140-180k

The hiring range is the range MedStar Health, in good faith, believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future and actual compensation may vary from posting based on work experience, education and/or skill level, etc. Even within the range, the actual compensation will vary depending on the above factors as well as market/business considerations.
