Job Duties:

[The Division of Child Protection][1] within the [Department of Pediatrics][2] at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is seeking an academic Pediatric Child Abuse Physician to assume the role of Division Chief of Child Protection. This is an opportunity for a full-time Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor. We seek a leader with enthusiasm for academic medicine who will encourage, inspire, and empower division members. The Division Chief provides strategic and operational leadership; oversees divisional faculty and staff; spearheads the expansion of clinical, education, and research programs; and guides faculty professional development. This is an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students, residents, and other trainees, thereby shaping the next generation of medical professionals. Opportunities exist for clinical research in the candidate's area/s of interest.

  • This position is full-time, 100%
  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
  • Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors (does not pertain to physicians/providers who work with minors): This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be an experienced academic physician with demonstrated excellence in research, education, service, and/or clinical care. Must possess a record of scholarly achievements, outstanding leadership skills, professionalism, and ability to develop interdisciplinary, collaborative programs.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in American Board of Pediatrics in Child Abuse Pediatrics is required by the appointment start date.
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Child Abuse Pediatrics is required.
  • The candidate is required to have a Wisconsin medical license by the appointment start date.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

Education:

MD, DO, or equivalent is required
