About the Obesity Medicine Program:

The Obesity Medicine Program is a comprehensive outpatient service providing evidence-based care for medically complex older adult patients with obesity and related metabolic diseases. Our patients often present with advanced obesity related conditions, including end-organ diseases such as cirrhosis and end-stage renal disease. We co-manage conditions associated with obesity, including type 2 diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD/MASH), hypertension, and mental health conditions. The program integrates obesity management medications, intensive lifestyle intervention, and collaborative care with procedural and surgical colleagues to provide comprehensive cardiometabolic optimization within a coordinated, multidisciplinary framework. We also provide preoperative cardiometabolic optimization for patients preparing for surgery at Cedars-Sinai.
