La Jolla Scripps Clinic Medical Group is seeking 2 Pathologists

The Scripps Clinic Medical Group (SCMG) Department of Pathology currently has two openings for experienced, board-certified pathologists. Candidates must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree, be

board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology, hold or be eligible for a California state medical license and have a minimum of 5 years of post-training experience in practicing pathology.

The first position will be primarily responsible for directing a large core reference laboratory as well as two medium sized outpatient laboratories. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a CLIA Laboratory Director as well as experience with interpretation of serum/urine protein electrophoresis and peripheral blood smears is required. Subspecialization or expertise in Informatics and/or the ability to sign out general surgical pathology or hematopathology is also desirable.

The second position will be a full-time surgical pathologist. A minimum of 5 years of posttraining experience in general surgical pathology is required. Additional subspecialty training in GU, GYN, Head and Neck, or Breast pathology is very desirable.

Scripps Clinic Medical Group is a premier multispecialty medical group with over 900 physicians serving the San Diego, California area. The Department of Pathology currently consists of 25 pathologists and 7 pathologists’ assistants. The Department serves 3 acute care hospitals comprising 710 beds, a large core laboratory, and multiple clinic locations in the San Diego/La Jolla area. The group receives an annual volume of approximately 90,000 surgical specimens,

38,000 Pap smears, 6,100 non-GYN cytopathology specimens, and 2,100 hematopathology specimens. The Clinical Pathology Division oversees the provision of more than 16 million clinical laboratory tests annually. The primary focus of the practice is diagnostic services,
