Job Title: Anesthesiology Physician (On-site and On-Call) Location: Syracuse VA Medical Center Address: 800 Irving Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13210 Contract Type: Full-Time | Government Contract | On-site & On-call Contract Duration: 1-year Base Period + Four (4) One-Year Option Periods Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizens and Green Card holders only

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Syracuse Medical Center seeks Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Anesthesiology Physicians to provide a mix of onsite (2.0 FTE) and on-call (1.03 FTE) anesthesia services. The selected physicians will deliver comprehensive peri-operative anesthesia care to veterans across surgical specialties in compliance with national healthcare standards.

• Deliver peri-operative anesthesia care: pre-op assessments, intra-op anesthesia, and post-anesthesia care.
• Provide anesthesia for general, vascular, orthopedic/spine, thoracic, ENT, urology, GI/Endo, interventional radiology, ICU, ECT, and cardiac cath lab procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and provide expert guidance to CRNAs and clinical staff.
• Participate in documentation, quality assurance, and improvement committees.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, VHA directives, and all patient care regulations.
• On-call responsibilities: weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays (must be reachable by phone within 15 minutes and on-site within 40 minutes if needed).
• Adhere to performance standards including clinical evaluation, documentation, patient safety, scope of practice, and HIPAA compliance.
• On-site Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Call Coverage: Weekday evenings, weekends, and federal holidays (shared among all physicians)
• No sleeping room provided for call-back

✅ Education & Training:

• ACGME-approved residency in Anesthesiology

✅ Licenses & Certifications:

• Current, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
• Board Certified / Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
• BLS & ACLS Certification (must remain current)

✅ Experience:

• Minimum 3–5 years preferred in clinical anesthesiology
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and adherence to hospital protocols
