The Manager of Advanced Practice Provider is a system-wide role that exists only for Inova Service Lines and is responsible for the overall management and coordination of APPs within the service line. This role serves as the direct supervisor for APP Leads in a Service Line.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall APP strategy and staffing within the Service Line
- Interviews and hires candidates for APP positions and ensures APPs within the Service Line have appropriate and current practice agreements in place
- Provides coaching for APPs within the Service Line
- Monitors APP performance and works collaboratively with HR on personnel issues
- Ensures yearly evaluations are appropriately accomplished and communicated in a timely manner
- Responsible for ensuring OPPE/FPPE is completed as required
- Identifies, develops and implements strategic APP-related initiatives throughout the Service Line
- Works with Service Line leadership to ensure fiscal responsibility and budget management are maintained
- Communicates System/ Service Line initiatives and budget impact to the teams effectively
- Assesses APP educational needs and develops ongoing structured educational programs
- Develops and supports a formal onboarding process for APPs within the Service Line
- Develops and implements crisis plans
- Positively communicates change
- Ensures appropriate and efficient APP practice and utilization and constantly strives for process and quality improvement
- May perform additional duties as assigned
Additional Requirements
Certification - Basic Life Support upon start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon startLicensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)Experience - 5 years of experience as an Advance Practice Clinician Education - Graduate of accredited PA or NP program-Specialty trained, where appropriate
