FT Opportunity for a PM&R Physician to treat our Veterans in the beautiful Hudson Valley Region of New York

Inpatient and outpatient

Provides medical/rehabilitation care to Veterans and Active-Duty personnel through clinical evaluation and treatment within outpatient TBI clinics and PM&R clinics.

  1. Assess the veteran's needs, providing specialized medical assessment and interventions for injuries and disease processes that have resulted in the need for rehabilitation and in specialized musculoskeletal, neurological, and functional examination; directing/coordinating implementation of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation services; contributing towards discharge planning. Ensures clinical appropriateness of the treatment of patients served, including timely and appropriate transition to other levels of care, notation of contraindications and precautions of care.
  2. Supervises and educates/trains PM&R residents in clinical activities relevant to TBI and PM&R services
  3. Evaluation and management including and not limited to: Musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions (including joint and neurotoxin injections), Electrodiagnostic testing, Amputation and prosthetics (including powered wheelchairs), Polytrauma/TBI care, Telerehabilitation, Brace/prosthetic evaluations. Support for SCI/D, pain, and integrative services. Administer structured programs (Polytrauma, amputee, wellness).
  4. Assists in the timely processing of referrals of patients in the outpatient PM&R clinics following timeliness metrics.
  5. Participates in telehealth between outpatient sites and the appropriate military treatment facilities or other referral sources/patients as needed.
  6. Performs electromyography/nerve conduction studies, ultrasounds, and conducts general PM&R clinics as needed.
  7. Performs PM&R consultations as directed by the Chief, PM&R.
  8. Ensures the ongoing provision of care that complies with the "Organization Code of Ethics" for VA.
  9. Clinical support for Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders (SCI/D), pain service, and integrative services.
  10. Actively participates in advocacy activities, program development, establishment of program policies/procedures, marketing/promoting, strategic planning and other activities as defined by the Chief, PM&R.
  11. Participate in administration, committees, and general teaching functions as delegated by the Chief PM&R

Work Environment: Describe Work Environment of the Position. E.g., Work is performed in an office/clinic setting with minimal risks that require normal safety precautions; the area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. However, the work environment requires someone with the ability to handle several tasks at once in sometimes stressful situations.

Compensation Details

EDRP Authorized: Eligible Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
