The LTSS Director will be required to spend a majority of time in the office with potential for some remote work as needed. This will be primarily an Office Based position as the LTSS Director is considered "Essential Staff" per the State of Kansas contractual obligations to KanCare membership.

Requirements:

  • Board certified Internist or Geriatrician
  • Actively licensed physician in Kansas without encumbrances
  • Has at least five (5) years clinical experience with Geriatrics and LTSS population.
  • The LTSS Medical Director must live in the state of Kansas or be willing to relocate to Kansas and obtain a Kansas medical license.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • This physician directs healthcare services for individuals of any age with physical, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities.
  • The LTSS MD oversees and is responsible for all primary physical and behavioral health services provided to individuals receiving LTSS, and to comparable populations enrolled in KanCare, as well as all clinical activities pertaining to the operation of LTSS programs and services, including preventive care and the management and coordination of primary and other physical health services for these members
  • Shall work closely with the LTSS support directors and other medical officers (BH) to ensure the delivery of holistic and integrated person-centered care.
  • Participate in QM/UM monthly meetings
  • Be responsible for maintaining compliance with policies and procedures and implement them at the employee level.
  • Support duties as required regarding utilization management of the service benefit and pharmacy benefit within the state health plan and additional duties as assigned.  (Perform daily review of individual cases from concurrent review and prior authorization processes, including denial decisions for cases that do not meet established evidence-based criteria. Conduct daily hospital admission and complex discharge rounds. Direct LTSS population activities, including evaluating the need for these services and ensuring collaboration among providers. Conduct peer to peer discussions)
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities, development and monitoring of cost saving initiatives, and other activities that support quality of care and total cost of care oversight. 
  • Serve as a key health plan external facing liaison, regarding programs, and projects with state regulators, providers, vendors, and community organizations.
  • Provides guidance and/or represents the Health Plan in state fair hearings for services that are LTSS related.

Education:

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Geriatrics

Compensation Details

$250-260k

The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
