Local Team Collaboration:

  • Our hospitalist team is a close-knit, highly skilled team of 22 physicians and 2 Advanced Practice Providers, serving patients within our 214-bed facility. This team is supported by the hospitalist medical director, associate medical director, residency program director, two clinical performance nurses, and hospitalist program administrator.
  • Our faculty and clinical teams are highly diverse in education and experience and come from around the world and are employed by Sound Physicians.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program or be scheduled to complete the program within three months of the start date.
  • Authorized to work in the United States. This site cannot sponsor visa candidates.

Term of Appointment:

  • July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027

Key Responsibilities

  • 90% of faculty/teaching and 10% of clinical shifts.
  • Serve as a clinician-educator, leader and representative of the residency program, liaison between residents and program leadership, and coordinator of key educational, clinical, and administrative activities.
  • Oversee resident scheduling by developing the annual master and jeopardy schedules, communicating assignments and changes, and maintaining accurate documentation with program staff.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for clinical coverage issues, determines appropriate coverage in coordination with PD/APDs, reports schedule changes within required timeframes, supports daily clinical operations, and promptly escalates performance, behavioral, or professionalism concerns.
  • Acts as the primary resident liaison by soliciting and anonymizing feedback, monitoring completion of evaluations, representing residents in meetings affecting education and workflow, participating in Program Evaluation Committee meetings, and advocating for resident concerns while upholding program policies.
  • Coordinates educational activities including Morning Report, Noon Conference, Grand Rounds, and Journal Club; collaborates with faculty to schedule speakers; tracks attendance; delivers lectures; and supports curriculum development and educational quality improvement.
  • Provides board preparation support by monitoring MKSAP progress, tracking board-review assignments and milestones, identifying residents needing additional support, communicating trends or concerns to leadership, and assisting with improvement of board-review programming.
  • Participates in hospital, departmental, and GME committees as assigned. Supports residency recruitment by coordinating resident involvement, interviewing applicants, assisting with recruitment communications, and representing the program to candidates.
  • Provides communication and administrative support by disseminating program updates, policies, schedules, and educational materials and assisting with educational and administrative initiatives.
  • Leads new resident orientation, coordinates Internal Medicine participation in the Franciscan Ethics Seminar, assists with the annual Residency Leadership Retreat, leads wellness and diversity initiatives, and represents the residency program at institutional and GME events.
