  • The Vision Institute at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) is seeking Ophthalmologists to join a dedicated team of professionals at the forefront of eye care to join our world class health system.  Must be BC/BE in Ophthalmology with the ability to obtain a PA license.

    About the position:
    * Manage a diverse range of cases, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and more.
    * Actively participate in teaching and mentoring residents across hospitals, clinics, and operating rooms
    * The Comprehensive Eye Service serves as the hub of our community outreach missions. Realize your passion for serving the underserved as part of the Guerrilla Eye Service, Mission of Mercy and eyeVan initiatives.
    * Research opportunities: Collaborate on innovative projects focused on the science of the delivery of care.
    * Collaborative team committed to academic advancement
    * Join a group of 59 total physicians, including a division of 7 Comprehensive Ophthalmologists 14 Optometrists.
    * Practice locations include UPMC Vision Institute at the Mercy Pavilion, Oakland Campus, and satellite locations
    * Hours are Monday-Friday, 8-4:30 with one ½ day administrative session.

    * Research focuses on ocular immunology, infectious disease, molecular genetics, molecular biology of retinal disease and glaucoma, and advanced diagnostic imaging technology development.
    * A specialty facility on the campus of UPMC Mercy will serve patients who have diseases of the eye or vision impairment and those who need physical rehabilitation. It contains 410,000 square feet of collaborative space for clinicians, researchers, educators, and industry partners, a state-of-the-art facility to deliver gene and cell therapy for the eye, an innovative, fully mocked-up apartment where patients can relearn critical life skills, a 3-D street lab with simulated city streets, offices, and meeting rooms to help patients with low vision navigate their surroundings. Other areas in the building will include exam rooms, operating rooms, an optical shop, a pharmacy and therapy stations.
